Deca Springs is about three kilometres west of Deca Creek on the north bank of the Twitya River in the Northwest Territories. The spring is near the uphill side of a large tufa mound measuring 1000 feet by 500 feet that is located about one kilometre north of the river. The pure, odourless water bubbles into a twenty-foot-wide pool.
It is rich in dissolved minerals, including sulphate, chloride, and sodium. Crustaceans, sometimes known as small shrimp, live in the water.
Another group of Springs can be located a kilometer to the west. They have large tufa mounds but are cooler, with temperatures ranging from 11 to 16 degrees Celsius.
